Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word (*.doc/*.docx) file format.
Please do not submit *.pdf file as it cannot be edited.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the 7th edition of APA.
  • The submission should include a biography introducing all authors contributing to the article.
  • Please register an ORCID before submission via this link https://orcid.org/register (mandatory).
  • If your article has been published in another language in another journal (e.g., a Chinese version in a Chinese journal), that's fine, and we accept re-publishing in another language. However, it is your responsibility to obtain the permission of the previously published journal and indicate it in this publication. Failing to do so may elicit retraction after publication, which is a severe issue.
  • Please note that JLT is implementing Article Processing Charges (APCs) to maintain the essential operation. You need to pay APCs only after your manuscript is accepted.

Author Guidelines

Interested in submitting to this journal? We recommend that you review the About the Journal page for the journal's section policies, as well as the Author Guidelines. Authors need to register with the journal prior to submitting or, if already registered, can simply log in and begin the five-step process. Before submission, please check our article structure requirements.

1. Manuscript Submission

We invite original, previously unpublished, research papers, reviews, survey and experimental papers, case studies, action research, and observation studies, on both applied and theoretical aspects. Manuscripts should be written in English. An ideal word count for origin research is between 6,000 and 8,000 words, excluding references and appendixes.  Whenever applicable, submissions must include the following elements: title, authors, affiliations, contacts, abstract, index terms, introduction, main text, conclusions, appendixes, acknowledgments, references, and biographies.

Papers should be formatted into A4-size (8.27″ x 11.69″) pages, with the main text of 11-point Times New Roman, in a single-spaced one-column format. Figures and tables must be sized as they are to appear in print. Figures should be placed exactly where they are to appear within the text. Authors are strongly advised to follow the format of the final version at this stage.

Authors may suggest 2-4 reviewers when submitting their works, by providing us with the reviewers’ title, full name, and contact information. The editor will decide whether the recommendations will be used or not.

Submission implies that the manuscript has not been published previously, and is not currently submitted for publication elsewhere. The submission also implies that the corresponding author has the consent of all authors; that all authors have significantly contributed to the research. Upon acceptance for publication, transfer of copyright will be made to Academy Publication; article submission implies author agreement with this policy.

All authors are obliged to provide retractions or corrections of mistakes.

2. Plagiarism Detection

iThenticate is adopted to prevent scholarly or professional plagiarism. Authors do not need to pay for this procedure. The plagiarism detection fee is included in the publication fee.

3. Article Processing Charges

Articles submitted to JLT are peer-reviewed and contain all necessary elements of an academic journal article.

We are implementing article processing charges (APCs) for all papers that are accepted for publication in our journal. The APC for each article will be US $350, HK $2,800, or CNY2,250.

You will need to pay the APCs only after your manuscript is accepted. There is no cost during the review process.

We understand that this change may cause some inconvenience, and we are aware that some of our authors may be suffering from financial hardships. In such cases, we will be happy to offer partial or complete discounts on the APCs. If you are facing financial difficulties, please do not hesitate to reach out to us and we will be happy to assist you.

As an academic journal, we rely on the support of our authors and readers to continue providing high-quality content. However, the operation fees of running a journal can be quite high, and these charges will help us cover these costs. These charges will be used to cover expenses such as copyediting, typesetting, hosting, and indexing services.

Please note that the APCs will only be applied once the article is accepted for publication, and authors will not be charged during the review process.

Upon publication, the authors will obtain:

  • Unlimited free access to the article for everyone forever.
  • Professional layout and production.
  • Thorough copy editing and proofreading by expert staff.
  • A unique DOI.
  • Plagiarism checks to ensure academic integrity.
  • Registration with CrossRef for broad access and visibility.
  • Archiving with LOCKSS for permanent preservation of content.

4. Review Process

Submissions should neither be submitted to, nor published in, another publication. Concurrent submission to other publications will result in immediate rejection of the submission.

Authors are obliged to participate in the peer-review process. All manuscripts will be subject to a well-established, fair, unbiased peer review and refereeing procedure, and are considered on the basis of their significance, novelty, and usefulness to the Journals readership. The reviewing structure will always ensure the anonymity of the referees. The review output will be one of the following decisions:

  • Accept
  • Accept with minor changes
  • Accept with major changes
  • Reject

The review process may take approximately three months to be completed. Should authors be requested by the editor to revise the text, the revised version should be submitted within 3 months for a major revision or 1 month for a minor revision. Authors who need more time are kindly requested to contact the Editor. The Editor reserves the right to reject a paper if it does not meet the aims and scope of the journal, it is not technically sound, it is not revised satisfactorily, or if it is inadequate in presentation.
